Tungsten Alloy Vibration-Damping Counterweight

1. What's Tungsten Alloy Vibration-Damping Counterweight?
Tungsten alloy vibration-damping counterweight is high-density balancing weight designed to control mechanical vibration through optimized mass and mass distribution. Made from tungsten heavy alloy with nickel, iron, or copper as binder-phase elements, it utilizes mass inertia, interface damping, and internal friction to dissipate or suppress vibration. CTIA's tungsten alloy vibration-damping counterweight helps reduce vibration responses caused by rotational imbalance, reciprocating inertial forces, fluid excitation, and external impact through controlled weight and mass distribution. It is suitable for vibration control in automotive engines, aerospace systems, industrial machinery, precision instruments, medical equipment, and marine equipment.
2. Features of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Vibration-Damping Counterweight
(1) High Density, Large Inertia: Density is typically 16.7–18.8 g/cm³, approximately 2.1–2.4 times that of steel and 1.5 times that of lead, enabling greater inertial mass within smaller volume. Under the same balancing moment, counterweight volume can be reduced by about 40% compared with steel.
(2) Vibration Damping, Stable Response: Mechanical vibration impedance is approximately twice that of steel. Vibration amplitude and transmission are reduced through inertial effects, interface friction and micro-slip mechanisms.
(3) High Strength, Fatigue Resistance: Tensile strength is typically 800–1200 MPa with elongation of about 8%–30%, capable of withstanding rotational loads and continuous vibration.
(4) Low Expansion, Dimensional Stability: Coefficient of thermal expansion is approximately 4.5–6.0×10⁻⁶/°C, about 1/2–1/3 that of iron or steel. Limited thermal deformation helps maintain dimensional accuracy and structural fit under temperature variation.
(5) Precision Machining, Good Consistency: Supports turning, milling, grinding, drilling and tapping. Dimensional tolerance can reach ±0.005 mm and weight deviation can be controlled within ±0.1%.
(6) Lead-Free, Environmentally Friendly: Contains no lead or radioactive materials, environmentally safe, and can replace traditional lead counterweights.
3. Applications of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Vibration-Damping Counterweight
(1) Automotive and Engines: Used in crankshafts, flywheels, drive shafts, clutch assemblies, engine dampers and suspension systems to reduce rotational imbalance, torsional vibration and operational impact.
(2) Industrial Machinery: Used in vibrating screens, vibrating conveyors, screening equipment, compressors, pumps, fans, rotors and rotating mechanisms to reduce vibration and impact generated during continuous operation.
(3) Aerospace: Used in aircraft control surfaces, ailerons, rudders, helicopter rotors, aero-engines, engine supports and satellite attitude mechanisms to reduce aeroelastic vibration and mechanical vibration.
(4) Precision Instruments and Medical Equipment: Used in gyroscope rotors, optical turntables, radar antenna stabilization mechanisms, precision motion platforms and CT rotating components to improve motion balance and vibration stability.
(5) Ships and Ocean Engineering: Used in ship shafting, propulsion systems, underwater equipment, underwater pipelines and marine structures to reduce shafting vibration, fluid excitation and vortex-induced vibration.
(6) Oil Drilling: Used in bottom-hole assemblies, drill strings and downhole motion components to adjust mass distribution and reduce vibration and impact during drilling.
